SoundExchange for Independent Artists: How to Get Paid
SoundExchange collects US digital performance royalties for master owners and featured performers. How registration, matching, and payouts actually work.
SoundExchange does not pay songwriters for writing. It pays the owner of the sound recording and the featured performer when the recording plays on SiriusXM, Pandora, and other non-interactive services.
If you are the writer but not the performer, this is not your money. If you released the record yourself, it likely is — and it is often left unclaimed.
Found Royalties can collect the owner's share if you opt in. The featured-artist share is always paid by SoundExchange directly to you.
